District 9710 2011-2012 Training
Welcome to the District 9710 Training Site.
To All Presidents Elect and Board members congratulations on your appointment to your Club positions for 2011-12. Thank you for accepting this important position and welcome to the journey we will commence together on July 1, 2011 with RI President Elect Kaylan Banerjee and what an exciting journey it will be. It will be our unique opportunity to make a difference in the world in our leadership roles and I wish you all the very best for your year and hope that the Plans & Objectives you will set with your Leadership Team for your club, will stretch your imagination on how we can all make a difference.
The District Directories should have been received by all Clubs. I would like to reinforce the training dates that have been set for you this Rotary year. At the combined President Elect Training (PETs) and District Assembly last year we received some valuable feedback from Assistant Governors, President Elects and Board members as to what they would like to have covered in the training.
The District Trainer PDG Bernie Rodgers has taken note of these comments and redesigned the 3 training programs to ensure that new topics and subjects will be introduced in each training session with minimum information repeated.
Multi-District PETS
This year our District has been given the unique opportunity to be part of multi-district PETs in Sydney. Rotary International President (RIP) Ray Klinginsmith has agreed to attend multi-districts PETs where 3 or more Districts combine to hold PETs. This is the 1st time it has happened in Australia and it will be a great privilege to share the weekend with RIP Ray. The Sydney Districts have offered to home host all attending from 9710 to assist in keeping costs to a minimum.
DTTS
The District Team Training Seminar (DTTS) for Assistant Governors (AG’s) and District Chairs will be hosted by the Rotary Club of Hall. Home hosting will be available, if required.
District Assembly
The District Assembly will be hosted by the Rotary Club of Nowra and held in Nowra. I have recently attended a training weekend at RDU in Parramatta. I was privileged to meet many people who presented Rotary programs and programs supported by Rotary, and all of them asked for time at the District Assembly and/or the District Conference. I am not planning to have a Rotary Focus weekend this year, due to the number of training events that are planned. I will include as many speakers as possible in the District Assembly and Conference to present programs supported by Rotary to all attending.
Please record the following dates in your diary:
- August 20th to 22nd 2010 Australian Rotary Convention – Canberra
- October 22nd to 24th 2010 District Conference – Nowra
- November 13th 2011 District Team Training Seminar – Canberra
- February 19th 2011 Rotary Foundation Seminar – Canberra
- March 12th -13th 2011 PETs multi District – Sydney
- April 30th May 1st 2011 District Assembly – Nowra

PETS
Presidents elect are required to attend PETs training and the Presidents Elect and Board members are encouraged to attend District Assembly. Our District Conference will be held in the Hellenic Club, Phillip, Canberra, planning is underway and the Hellenic Club have donated the hire costs for the Conference.
If you would like to discuss any aspects of the training program please contact either the District Trainer or myself, contact details are listed separately. I trust you are excited and looking forward to your year as President as much as I am looking forward to serving you as your Governor.
Yours in Rotary Service
Rob Woolley
